Introduction week

Every August and January, the start of each semester.

During the introduction week students receive a lot of useful information about the University.

There are many chances to get to know other exchange students through the social and informal events that take place.

 

Welcome Dinner

Occurs every August and January.

This is another organized event in order to allow students to get to know one another.

 

HotSpot

This takes place in April.

This is one of Sweden's biggest work fairs.

Students have the opportunity to interact with future employers and become informed about potential career choices.

 

 

The Diversity Days

Student Union over a two day period organizes activities and lectures, embracing the positivity of diversity (usually a few lectures are in English).

 

End Of Semester Concert

Every year, the international exchange committee reach out for volunteers to organise an end of semester concert, complete with a live band and award ceremony. 

 

International Dinner

This occurs every Fall and Spring.

Each student brings food from their own country.

It is an organized pot luck that allows students to eat dishes from all over the world.

 

Movie Nights

Usually once a week (Every Wednesday in Spring 2014).

There will most likely be a Facebook Group made for this.

Enables students to vote for the weeks movie.

 

Halloween Party

This takes place in late October.

Celebrating Halloween.

 

EVENTS OUTSIDE THE UNIVERSITY

Fresher's week

This takes place in August and September.

After introduction week for the Swedish students arrive back to University. During the next two weeks there are many activities taking place in Karlstad such as a raft race and a welcoming party.

 

 

 

Valborg

This takes place April 30th.

Swedish Holiday.

Celebrated by most students.

There are barbecues, parties and other entertaining activities occurring all over the city.

 

 

International Student Cruise

This occurs in October and April.

Once a semester international students take a cruise together to other countries such as Russia, Latvia and Estonia.

It is a great way to spend time with fellow exchange students, while traveling the world.
