FOOD & BEVERAGE

GROCERY SHOPPING

When it comes to weekly shop, we reccommend you AVOID COOP Konsum. Yes, it's a short walk from campus, but the pricing makes it one of the worst places to rely on, especially if you are limited to a budget. Take the number 2 bus to Välsviken, and get off at ICA on the way. You'll save a small fortune.

1. Willy's (Cheapest)

2. Lidl (Cheap too)

3. ICA (reasonable price for being Sweden)

4. Coop Konsum (most expensive)

ALCOHOL

If you didn't know already, the government has monopolised all alcohol over 3.5% for over 150 years, so there's little to no discounts, booze can only be bought at the SYSTEMBOLAGET. But on the bright side, the shops that do sell booze have got a great selection, and staff that know their drinks.

TIPS

Beverage cans and glass or plastic bottles produced in Sweden have a return value or 'PANT' of 1 or 2kr. You can recycle any PANT designated cans and bottles at most supermarkets. If you can put some time aside to recycle actively, you can make a nice return, something which many of us were pleasantly surprised by initially.

If you're living on campus, you'll find yourself sharing a communal kitchen with several others. The kitchens are spacious, with three to four fridge freezers, two stoves and often other convenience electronics.

KEG ADVICE: SAVE RESTAURANTS FOR SPECIAL OCCASIONS.

TRY TO COOK COMMUNALLY, IT'S A GREAT WAY TO SAVE MONEY AND SOCIALISE AT THE SAME TIME.
